Nursing Mentorship

I learned a lot during this mentorship. I was able to shadow OB/GYNs, RNs, pediatric specialists and radiologists. Shadowing the pediatric specialist was my favorite. I witnessed a newborn circumcision on my first visit, and it was very interesting. The nurses were very quick and careful. I also learned about post tonsillectomy procedures and how to discharge babies. I also got to see how they do online documenting. It is a lot more organized than writing everything down and it is a lot faster. When I shadowed the OB/GYN, I got to see multiple sonograms and blood samples. I also learned about the questions and procedures for each checkup. Every patient that came in for a postpartum visit was given a survey to make sure they were not depressed and are handling everything well with their new addition, overall, this was a great learning experience and it helped me get exposure in the medical field.
